This page details our practices specifically regarding text messages sent through Zoom Phone for official university communications. SMS messages can only be sent to US/Canada numbers.
Our Use of SMS/Text Messaging in Zoom Phone
We use SMS text messages in Zoom Phone for various outreach and day to day business purposes. Examples include:
- Ad-hoc messaging to individual phone numbers for business communication
- Administrative reminders (e.g., appointments or deadlines)
The University will never share or sell your mobile phone number to third parties for 3rd party marketing or promotional purposes.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties."
This means:
- No Sharing for Marketing: Your mobile number is strictly for university use and will not be provided to external entities for their marketing or promotional campaigns.
- Data Isolation: The data related to your decision to receive (opt-in) or stop receiving (opt-out) university text messages is kept separate and is not shared with any third party.
How to Opt-Out
You can stop receiving text messages from a specific university communication line at any time.
- To Opt-Out: Reply STOP to the message you wish to discontinue.
- Confirmation: You will receive a final confirmation message stating that you have successfully opted out.
- To Resume Messages: You can typically reply UNSTOP or START to the same number if you wish to begin receiving messages again.
